INFORMATION FOR PRESENTERS

Presenters may consult with their faculty supervisors for help with preparing their poster presentations. If your work has not been conducted under the supervision of a faculty member you may consult RA. Elif Demirtaş // elif.demirtas[at]ozyegin.edu.tr

Oral presentations

·         In the oral presentation session, each presenter/presenting group will present their research study using a PowerPoint presentation (just like you do in some of your classes).

·         Each presentation should have four major parts: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion.

·         Each presenter/presenting group will have 12 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for answering questions from the audience. Staying within the time limit is also part of the evaluation criteria.

·         It is also possible to present your study as a group (i.e., divide up the presentation and have different students present each part), but please make sure that you do not exceed the time limit (12 minutes).

Poster presentations

·         During the poster session each presenter stands next to their poster an hour. The audience walks around and interacts with the presenters (i.e., presenters will give a short summary of the poster and the audience will ask questions).

·         Posters present a research study using a combination of text and visual information such as tables, figures, pictures and or graphs.

·         Poster size should be A1 paper size (594 x 841 mm).

·         Please see this link for tips on how to make a better poster presentation. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwMFhyH7_5g)

·         Festival organizing committee will help you getting your posters printed.

Abstract Instructions

  • Each student may be the first author of only one submission.
  • Abstracts should contain the names of all members of the research either in order of contribution or alphabetically.
  • Abstracts must contain the research hypotheses, sample size, and results (if quantitative work, add the numerical results).
  • Abstracts must not be longer than 180 words.
  • If a faculty member advised you, please indicate their name on the bottom of the abstract (not included in word limit).
  • Between three and five keywords should be added at the end of the abstract.
  • We will expect poster presentations from undergrad participants and oral presentations from grad students. If you have a mixed (grad & undergrad) research group, you can consult the festival organizers about the format of your contribution.
